3 SIMPLE BREAKFASTS TO ELEVATE YOUR MOOD

I think it's fair to say that we've all been relentlessly pushed in very challenging and unexpected ways this year. It's normal to react to our unique circumstances by forming a cold exterior in preparation for the next blow. Rather than allowing ourselves to become hardened and disinterested in the things that normally light us up, what if we fought back? Thankfully, there are simple but effective ways that food can help us reclaim a good mood.

I believe breakfast truly sets the stage for our energy production, blood sugar stabilization and hormone regulation (like serotonin, a happiness-inducing chemical). By working in a few powerful nutrients, we can set ourselves up to ride a good mood into the afternoon. These recipes have you covered with ingredients containing pro & prebiotics, vitamin D, Omega-3's, protein and adaptogens - our key players in elevating mood.

BERRY FROZEN YOGURT BARK

SPREAD yogurt evenly onto a parchment-lined baking sheet (I recommend using full fat plain yogurt, preferably grass-fed & sweetening yourself with a little honey or real maple syrup)

SPRINKLE toppings all over the yogurt like berries & granola (my fav is Purely Elizabeth brand)

FREEZE & break apart into pieces when ready to eat

SALSA VERDE BREAKFAST BOWL

PREPARE rice and set aside (I love using Right Rice since it's higher in protein and made from vegetables)

SCRAMBLE or FRY 2-3 eggs in olive or avocado oil (I use Vital Farms pasture-raised eggs for greater omega-3 density)

TOP with avocado & salsa verde

BANANA MACA SMOOTHIE

🥛 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

🥛 1 scoop plant-based protein powder (vanilla or chocolate are amazing too)

* For a clean protein powder I trust, use my code KMARIAS30 for 30% off your first order at orgain.com *

🥛 1 banana

🥛 2 Tbs peanut butter (or any nut/seed butter)

🥛 1 tsp maca powder

🥛 ice

BLEND and top with Purely Elizabeth granola to put this one completely over the edge
