This topic feels somewhat mistimed given that I am midway through my #whole30 January, but it’s giving me life to push through to February so here goes…

Once upon a time...

my mom and I got a little carried away at a “Wine Down Wednesday” event on vacation. The combination of decent cab offerings and live Spanish guitar were all it took to set the stage for a more than memorable weeknight. To this day, we laugh about that experience…and I won’t bore you with the details because it surely falls into the category of “you had to be there” kinda stories. Ever since, Wednesdays have been a favorite day of mine, and truly always were to begin with. It’s the perfect opportunity to break up the grind of the week with something therapeutic, whatever that may be for you. Living for the weekend alone makes for a pretty long and miserable five days in my opinion. Instead, I encourage you to look at Wednesdays as an extension of your Sunday or maybe even a Friday night teaser, depending on your approach.

Wind or wine down?

For me, Wednesdays go one of 2 directions, as the title of this post insinuates. I can choose to get out and shake up the week or I can “wind down.” The key is becoming hyper aware of what your body needs and honoring that in the moment. Sometimes I need to step away from the routine to connect with friends over dinner and a glass of wine (or two). Other weeks I may need to pour myself into a hot yoga class to get out of my head and into my body. Sometimes it's both - a eucalyptus bubble bath, complete with a glass of cabernet. Both approaches are effective in helping me recharge.

Give yourself permission

Tonight, I hope you book that massage you deserve or invite a girlfriend over to catch up over a new bottle of wine. You never know, it may end up being a night you never forget.

xo, Kristen
